Commission Approves Commercial Alternative Mandatory Course
During its March 2026 meeting, the Louisiana Real Estate Commission approved the 2026 Mandatory Commercial Alternate – Money Matters & RPR for Commercial Agents as a substitute for the 2026 Mandatory Course.
This alternative course is designed specifically for commercial real estate professionals and satisfies the Commission's 2026 mandatory continuing education requirement when taken in place of the standard 2026 Mandatory Course.
The Commission approved the commercial alternate course to provide commercial practitioners with mandatory education that is more directly applicable to their area of practice while continuing to meet the Commission's annual mandatory education requirements.

As the annual renewal period approaches, now is the perfect time for licensees to review their continuing education progress and ensure they are on track to meet this year's requirements.
Remember, all licensees renewing in the active status must complete 12 hours of continuing education coursework, including any courses mandated by the Commission, no later than December 31, 2026. Continuing education must be completed through an LREC-certified education provider.
Note: This year’s mandatory requirement includes a broker mandatory course that must be taken by all brokers and associate brokers renewing in the active status. Additionally, the Mandatory Commercial Alternate cannot be taken as a substitute for the Broker Mandatory.
Don’t Delay… Be Proactive in Completing Your CE Requirements
With busy schedules and competing priorities, it's easy to put continuing education off until the last minute. However, waiting too long can create unnecessary stress and increase the risk of missing the December 31 deadline.
Failure to complete the required continuing education by the deadline is a violation of Louisiana real estate license law and will result in a fine citation.
Licensees are encouraged to complete their continuing education early and avoid the year-end rush. Continuing education is not only an annual requirement, it is an opportunity to stay informed and continue growing as a real estate professional.
