Artificial Intelligence Is a Powerful Tool, But Professional Judgment Still Matters
Technology continues to reshape the real estate industry, and few innovations have generated as much excitement as artificial intelligence. From drafting listing descriptions and marketing content to helping organize information and improve efficiency, AI has quickly become a valuable tool for many real estate professionals.
While AI offers tremendous potential, it's important to remember that it is just that… a tool. It cannot replace your professional judgment, experience, or responsibility as a Louisiana real estate licensee.
As AI becomes more common in our industry, I encourage every licensee to use it thoughtfully and responsibly. Any information generated by AI should always be reviewed for accuracy before it is shared with clients or the public. AI systems can make mistakes, provide outdated information, or generate content that is misleading or incomplete. Ultimately, licensees remain responsible for the information they provide and for ensuring compliance with Louisiana law and Commission rules.
Protecting confidential client information should also remain a top priority. Licensees should never enter confidential or personally identifiable information into public AI platforms and should understand how the AI tools they use collect, store, and utilize data.
AI can also be helpful when preparing marketing materials, but it should never be used to create a false or misleading impression of a property. Images, descriptions, and other advertising content should accurately represent the property and comply with all applicable advertising requirements.
Finally, AI should never be viewed as a substitute for legal advice or guidance on Commission laws and regulations. When questions arise regarding compliance, your qualifying broker and the Commission remain your best resources.
Artificial intelligence will continue to evolve, and it will undoubtedly become an increasingly valuable part of our profession. By embracing these tools responsibly while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and consumer protections, Louisiana licensees can take advantage of new technology without compromising the trust our clients place in us.
As our industry continues to evolve, the Commission remains committed to helping licensees navigate emerging technologies while upholding the integrity of the real estate profession.
